Geneva Completes Perfect Fall Season with Decisive Victory
Beaver Falls, PA – It seems as though the fall tennis season keeps getting better and better for head coach
Mandee Craft and the men's team. On Wednesday, the Golden Tornadoes completed a perfect 5-0 fall season with the program's first 9-0 victory since the program restarted in 2016. Geneva handed Ohio Christian the decisive victory to close out what has been, to say the least, a very encouraging fall.
"Our brief fall season has been nothing but encouraging," said Craft. "We already have the same number of wins we had all of last year and we haven't yet reached the spring season. Even more encouraging is the fact that three of those wins have come against teams that beat us a year ago. I can't wait to see what the spring season holds."
Craft got her final look at the men's team on Wednesday and she certainly couldn't help but like what she saw. Geneva swept three doubles matches with the tandems of
Alex Beck and
Drake Greenstein,
Eric Abbott and
Nate Heidengren and
Alex Greissinger and
Jesse Hooke all taking care of their work in doubles.
Five of those same six won singles matches along with the addition of
Ethan Stahl. Stahl, Greenstein and Greissinger all cruised to perfect 6-0, 6-0 victories.
The victory against Ohio Christian marked the end of the 2017 fall season and will serve as quite a springboard into the next set of matches slated to begin in March.
