Victory at Mt. Vernon Nazarene Raises the Curtain for Men's Tennis Season
Mt. Vernon, OH – The curtain went up on the 2017 fall season for the Geneva College men's tennis team. The opening act proved to be a successful one with Geneva coming away with a 6-3 victory over NAIA scholarship program Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
Geneva opened the match with two victories in the three doubles matches. Teammates
Eric Abbott and
Ethan Stahl picked up an 8-2 win in second doubles while
Alex Greissinger and
Caleb Hoal won their third doubles match 8-1.
In singles action, Geneva dropped its matches at number one and two, but three through six came away with victories. Stahl (6-0, 6-2),
Jesse Hooke (6-4, 6-3), Hoal (6-0, 6-0) and Greissinger (6-1, 6-0) all came away with straight set victories to pace the victory.
Geneva moved its record to 1-0 with its opening fall match victory and will be back in action September 16th when it hosts Frostburg State at Brady's Run Courts.
