Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Grove City Too Strong for Men’s Tennis

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team squared off with Grove City on Wednesday afternoon at Brady's Run Indoor Courts, and the perennial Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) power Wolverines were too strong for the Golden Tornadoes, sweeping Geneva 9-0.  Grove City improved to 2-2 overall, 2-0 in the PAC, while Geneva fell to 2-2, 2-2 in the PAC.

The closest match of the day came in #1 doubles, where seniors Nate Heidengren (Aliquippa, Pa./Beaver County Christian) and Drake Greenstein (Austin, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) battled all the way into a tiebreaker before falling in the tiebreaker, 7-4, for an 8-7 loss.  Heidengren, the reigning PAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, also put up a good fight in #1 singles before succumbing 3-6, 5-7.

"Our men fought hard today, but Grove City is a talented and well-coached team from top to bottom," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "We found some things we need to work on, and we will be ready if we face them again in the PAC Playoffs."

Geneva is back in action Monday when the Golden Tornadoes host Franciscan at 6:00 p.m. at Blackhawk Courts.
