ANGOLA, Ind. – The Geneva College women's basketball team never got its offense on track on Wednesday afternoon in their final game in the Trine Holiday Classic, losing to Calvin 93-39. Geneva dropped to 6-7 overall, while Calvin improved to 6-5.
Geneva, playing again without leading scorer Mia San Nicolas, struggled offensively out of the gate. It took the Golden Tornadoes five minutes to finally get on the board, and by the time the first quarter ended, Calvin led 21-5.
Things didn't improve much the rest of the game, as Calvin used its big size advantage to score in the paint, while Geneva couldn't get its shots to fall, eventually losing, 93-39.
Junior Taylor Milroy led the women, who shot just 12-of-74 (16.2%) from the floor, with ten points.
The women will now enjoy the holidays off before returning to action on January 3 with a 6:00 p.m. game at Westminster.
