Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Tennis Season Ends in PAC Quarterfinals

STUEBENVILLE, Ohio – The Geneva College men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quarterfinals, falling to No. 4 Franciscan 6-3.  Geneva finishes its season with a 7-7 overall record.

The men got off to a good start in doubles play.  Freshman Braiden Smalley and senior Jacques Guillembet took #1 doubles, 8-3, while sophomore David Clark and freshman Owen Landis won 8-5 in #3 doubles, giving the Golden Tornadoes an early edge.

Unfortunately, Geneva couldn't carry that success into singles play.  The Barons took five of the six singles matches, with junior Jadon Hooke's win in #4 singles by a score of 7-5, 6-1, the only win for the Golden Tornadoes.

"We really had a shot today," said Head Coach Mandee Craft, "as these were two really closely matched teams.  It always hurts when the season ends, but we've had a strong year."

The Golden Tornadoes have the core of their team set to return, though Geneva will need to find replacements for three seniors in Guillembet, Jalen Landis and Jacob Zangas.
