Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis Sees Season End at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – Three days after upsetting Saint Vincent on Saturday, the Geneva College men's tennis team couldn't repeat the feat in the first round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.  Earning the conference's No. 6 seed, the Golden Tornadoes traveled to Latrobe to face the No. 3 Bearcats, and Geneva lost 5-2.  The loss brings a close to Geneva's season with a 7-6 record.

In doubles play, senior Jadon Hooke and sophomore Braiden Smalley won 8-3.  Saint Vincent won No. 2 doubles, as the Bearcats did on Saturday, but No. 3 doubles was a difference.  Geneva won No. 3 doubles on Saturday, but on Tuesday the Bearcats overcame a 5-2 deficit to win 8-6.

Smalley again won his match in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1, but Saint Vincent took the singles matches in the third, fifth and sixth flights giving the Bearcats the needed five points for victory, and the match was called at that point.

"This was definitely our hardest loss to swallow this year," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "But we gave it our all until the last point was played, and I'm really proud of the effort these guys have put in this year."
