BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team picked up its third Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) sweep of the season on Monday night, defeating Westminster 9-0 on Blackhawk Courts. The victory improved Geneva's record to 6-1 overall, 3-1 in the PAC.
Geneva swept through the doubles portion of the match fairly easily. Senior Jadon Hooke and sophomore Braiden Smalley won 8-2 in No. 1 doubles, while junior David Clark and sophomore Owen Landis in No. 2 doubles, and senior Nick Heidengren and freshman Thayne Bodenmiller in No. 3 doubles, each won by 8-3 scores.
In singles play, Smalley easily won in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, while Hooke had a similarly easy match in No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2. Clark had a tough match in No. 3 singles, earning a three-set victory 6-0, 3-6, 11-9. Landis also prevailed in No. 4 singles in three sets, winning 6-2, 6-7, 10-8. Senior Stone Seip breezed through No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-1, while Heidengren won 6-4, 6-4 in No. 6 singles.
"This was a solid win for us," said Head Coach Mandee Craft. "We have a very quick turnaround tomorrow, so hopefully we can do it again."
The men have just 15 hours to recover before hosting Penn State Altoona on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. on Brady Run's Courts.
