ALIQUIPPA, Pa. – Seniors Kevin Arseneaux and Addie Tallman were honored as Geneva's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Scholar-Athletes of the Year at a banquet hosted on Tuesday night by the conference. The PAC recognizes a male and female student-athlete from each school in the conference who excelled both athletically and academically throughout their career, while also impacting the campus community.
Arseneaux, from Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, graduated with a degree in Middle Level Education and has accepted a position teaching middle school at a Christian school in Indonesia, where he will also coach track.
Arseneaux will go down as one of the best track and cross country runners to ever compete at Geneva. He became the first Golden Tornado to win the PAC Cross Country Championship last year, while qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships. He holds multiple indoor and outdoor records in track field, specializing in the 800-meter and 1500-meter races which he has won at the PAC Championships for the past three seasons. Kevin regularly competes at Division I meets, winning an 1500-meter race at Ohio State as a sophomore. He's twice been named the Most Outstanding Performer at the PAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Arseneaux has also excelled in the classroom where he posted a 3.69 GPA, earning honors on the PAC Academic Honor Roll, as an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and a CSC Academic All-District selection. He has also been an integral part of the Geneva campus community over the past four years, playing tenor saxophone in the Geneva jazz band and helping lead a regular Bible study on the track team. He has also been an active member of his church where he has served as a Sunday School teacher and an usher during his four years at Geneva. He also spent parts of his college summers serving at Pine Valley Bible Camp as a counselor for underprivileged kids.
Tallman, from Gaithersburg, Maryland, graduated with a degree in Communication Disorders and a minor in Mathematics, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. She is planning to attend West Virginia University in the fall to complete a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Tallman has been a cornerstone player for the women's soccer program over the past four years, immediately stepping into the starting lineup as a freshman and starting almost every game over her four seasons at Geneva. She quickly developed into a strong central defender for the Golden Tornadoes, earning All-PAC honors her sophomore season.
Tallman has also excelled in the classroom, where she boasts a 3.98 GPA. She was named the student-athlete with the highest GPA at Geneva's commencement ceremonies last weekend, and she's been named to the Dean's list, the PAC Academic Honor Roll, an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and a CSC Academic All-District selection every year she's been eligible.
Tallman has also been an active member of the Geneva campus community during her time on College Hill. She was a member and officer of the Geneva chapter of the National Student Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society. She served as a squad lead for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a member of the Welcome Week Hospitality Team. Tallman also worked as a tutor for math and communication disorders classes. In addition, she has served as the Fair 4-H Indoor Building Clovers Chairman for the past three years.
