BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Freshman cross country runner
Tyler Caron continues to impress in his first season of collegiate competition, getting to campus in August and becoming one of the top runners on Geneva's men's cross country team almost immediately. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honored him with his fourth PAC Newcomer of the Week award this semester on Tuesday afternoon, and he has already developed into one of the best runners in the conference in his freshman season.
Caron was Geneva's top runner at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble this past weekend, taking 18
th place overall at the meet with a time of 26:37.4. It was the first time this season that Caron has been the Golden Tornadoes' top finisher at a meet, and his mark was the fourth-best among competing freshman. He led Geneva to a ninth-place finish as a team in a very competitive field featuring 19 different schools.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams are off this weekend to prepare for the PAC Championship Meet, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 31. The women's race begins at 11:00 a.m. while the men are slated to start at 12:00 p.m.
