Henry Kennedy has been heavily involved with Geneva’s track and field program over the past decade, competing with the team from 2016-2019 and coaching from the fall of 2019 up through the present. He has played a part in 13 PAC Championships during his time with the program – five as an athlete and eight as a coach – and the 2026-27 school year will mark his eighth year as an assistant coach.
Kennedy has specialized in coaching the Geneva sprinters since 2019, coaching two different sprinters to the NCAA Division III National Championship meet in Dom Data (2022) and Abe Konneh (2026). This past season, in 2026, his men’s sprint relay teams broke all three program records, setting new marks in the 4x100, indoor 4x400, and outdoor 4x400. Also in 2026, he saw four men’s athletes eclipse the 11-second mark in the 100-meter dash, and had two runners eclipse the 50-second mark in the 400 meters.
As an athlete, Kennedy was a part of five PAC Championship-winning teams, competing both as a sprinter and throwing javelin. While a student, he was a member of two school-record-setting relay teams in the 4x100 (which also set the PAC record at the time) and the indoor 4x400. He finished 83rd in the nation in the javelin in 2019, his senior season.
Kennedy graduated from Geneva in 2019 with a Sports Management degree, with a minor in Coaching. He is also a member of the US Army Reserves, graduating from basic training in 2013. In addition to coaching track and field, he is also the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Geneva.
