Wendy Smith

Head Coach - Wendy Smith

Wendy Smith will be beginning her 26th season as Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Geneva in the fall of 2025.  The 2019 season saw Smith surpass 400 career victories while at Geneva, while also advancing to the PAC Championship match, with the 26 wins in 2019 the second most in school history.  She has the most wins as a women's head volleyball coach in school history with 456.  Smith also served as the interim men's volleyball head coach during the spring 2024 season.

Smith began her Geneva coaching career as an assistant under former head coach Cindy Guthrie in 1999, taking over as head coach in 2000. Prior to Geneva, Smith served as an assistant coach at La Roche College for three years. A graduate of Duke University, where she earned three varsity letters in volleyball, Smith received her undergraduate degree in religion. Following her years at Duke, Smith continued her education at the University of Pittsburgh where she received her Law degree. She then began her volleyball coaching career in the mid-80's as the head coach for Mt. Lebanon High School.

In the last 25 years Smith has compiled a 456-350 (.566) coaching record, including a 146-67 (.685) record in the Presidents' Athletic Conference since Geneva moved to the NCAA Division III in 2011.  She was also co-coach with men's volleyball Head Coach Curt Conser for nine seasons before again taking over sole direction of the program seven seasons ago.  Smith and Conser earned an overall record of 126-51 record (.711 winning percentage) and a 77-14 record (.846 winning percentage) against PAC competition. Under her direction, Geneva has made a PAC post-season appearance in all but three years since becoming eligible in 2011, including earning the PAC Championship in 2011 and the South Region Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship in 2014.  The program has also advanced to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament twice in recent years.
