Linda Sumner

Head Coach - Linda Sumner

Entering the 2020 season, Coach Linda Sumner is preparing for her 14th year at the helm of the Geneva College women's soccer program. Sumner has compiled a 89-129-12 record in her first 13 years on the sidelines as head coach, and she has helped lead the Golden Tornadoes to four trips to the NCCAA regional tournament.

One of Geneva's all-time greats on the field, Sumner ended her playing career as the school's all-time leading scorer with 66 goals, which is a record that has since been broken, but she remains second on the list.  She earned NAIA All-American honors her senior season and held the school goal scoring record for 15 years before it was broken in 2005.

Following her playing days, Sumner spent three years as an assistant coach before taking over the head coaching duties in 2007. In addition to leading the women's soccer program, Sumner is also an accounting instructor in the business department.

Sumner and her husband Alan, who is the head coach for the Geneva baseball team and has the most wins in Geneva history, reside in Chippewa Township.
