Geneva Drops Conference Match
Grove City, PA – The Grove City women's soccer team proved their strength in the Presidents' Athletic Conference play with its 6-1 home victory over Geneva College. The Golden Tornadoes will continue on with the season at an overall record of 4-8, 1-3 in conference action.
The Wolverine attacked early in the match as they were able to convert a goal in the opening seconds of play for the 1-0 score. Things remained fairly even throughout the remainder of the half as the Golden Tornadoes started to generate some offense. After a penalty kick was awarded to Geneva, freshman midfielder,
April Mann, converted her second penalty kick of season to tie the game 1-1 going into the half.
With the second half underway the Golden Tornadoes ran out of steam as the Wolverines scored early and often. After ninety minutes of play, Grove City walked away from Geneva with the 6-1 victory. The hosts outshot Geneva 28-11 in the match forcing sophomore goalkeeper
Dani Lincoln to make twelve saves. Geneva forced the Grove City keeper to make seven saves.
Hoping to rebound from the loss quickly, the Golden Tornadoes will prepare to host Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday, October 14 at 4:30 p.m. for a conference double header with the men's program.
