Fourth-Seeded GTs Overwhelm Fifth-Seeded Bearcats
Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva women's tennis raised its overall record to 12-2, 6-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Tornadoes posted an impressive 8-1 win over the Saint Vincent Bearcats indoors at Brady's Run Courts. The match was Saint Vincent's last contest before heading to the PAC Championships held in Erie, PA. The Bearcats will enter the postseason with an overall record of 6-8, 4-4 in the PAC.
"This was a huge win for us with PAC Championships right around the corner," said head coach
Mandee Craft. "Grace especially had to battle today in both singles and doubles, but came up with big wins."
Grace Moyer earned a 7-6 (4), 6-4 third singles win along with a 9-7 second doubles win with partner
Jana Newberry.
Rachael Letterman and
Sara Stoll took care of first doubles (8-4) while
Victoria Hinds and
Laura Anderson posted an 8-5 third doubles decision for the double play sweep.
Letterman (6-1, 6-3) in first singles, Stoll (6-1, 6-2) in second singles and Hinds (6-1, 6-1) in fourth singles each earned wins for the Golden Tornadoes.
Felicity Orndoff ended up on the wrong side of a long match (3-6, 6-0, 8-10).
Michelle Kisiel's 6-3, 6-3 earned the sixth singles win.
Geneva will face one more opponent before heading to Erie for the Championships. Grove City (7-3, 5-0 PAC) will host the Golden Tornadoes on Monday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m.
