Road Proves Friendly for Golden Tornadoes
Waynesburg, PA – Geneva returned to the win column with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-13) victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Waynesburg University. The win brings Geneva's overall record to 11-18, 9-6 in the PAC. Waynesburg's record was lowered to 10-14, 4-9 in the PAC.
Geneva dominated in set one, coming to a 25-13 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Not one to be shut down, Waynesburg responded with a solid five point lead at 13-8 in the second set. Geneva was able to overcome the pressure and win the second set 25-22. The GT's carried their momentum into the third set, putting 9 points on the board before the Yellow Jackets were able to find any success. The 25-13 set three victory finished the match in short order.
Erica Hughes led Geneva's offense with 15 kills out of 27 swings finishing with a .444 attack percentage. Sydney McNulty followed Hughes with 7 kills in 18 swings to finish with a .389 attack percentage. The offense was supported by Daphney Hunsinger's 32 assists.
Defense was held down by the shared work of freshman
Grace Holdeman's 11 digs, freshman Alexis Jordan's nine, and Hughes' seven.
Geneva will return to the court on Tuesday, October 24 when it returns to action at Thiel College for a 7:00 p.m. start.
