Women’s Soccer Finishes the Season with a Tie
Beaver Falls, PA—On a cold and wet evening, the Geneva College women's soccer team finished off its regular season with a home tie against Chatham College, 0-0. Unfortunately for Geneva, it did not qualify for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoffs, so the tie completes Geneva's season at 5-11-1 overall, 2-6-1 in the PAC.
Chatham controlled large parts of the game, outshooting Geneva 25-7. But the Geneva defense held strong, not allowing Chatham many clean looks, and as a result Chatham was only able to put four shots on goal.
Geneva goalie Dani Lincoln stopped all four of those shots to record the shutout, which is her fourth shutout of the season, a new career high. While she wasn't called into action often, she made a huge fingertip save with less than a minute to go in regulation to preserve the tie and send the game into overtime. Chatham outshot Geneva 9-0 in the overtime, but Geneva was able to hold on to get the season ending tie.
Before the game Geneva recognized its lone senior, midfielder
Kelsey Ingold. With only one senior on the roster, the women's soccer team hopes to build upon its foundation of young players as they look ahead to the 2018 season.
