Oberlin Offense Explodes, Hands Geneva Tough Loss

Oberlin, OH – Coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss at Mt. Aloysius on Saturday, the Geneva College women's soccer team didn't see the same type of drama down the stretch on Wednesday night. Oberlin scored early and often on its way to a convincing 8-0 victory over the Golden Tornadoes. The loss dropped Geneva to 2-3 on the season while the Yeowomen remained unbeaten at 5-0.

Oberlin scored six first half goals including a pair less than two minutes apart within the first 15 minutes of the match. Oberlin added a pair of second half goals to cruise to an 8-0 victory. Geneva did manage to out shoot Oberlin 6-5 in the second half but was outshot 19-7 for the match.

"Unlike most of our matches this year, we didn't get off to a good start," said head coach Linda Sumner. "We have experienced some second half break downs early in the year but tonight we didn't start well and against a team of this quality, it is not going to end well when that happens."

Geneva will head back home on Friday evening to host Pitt-Bradford in a scheduled 5 pm kickoff. The women have fared well so far on their home turf with a perfect 2-0 record on College Hill.
