Women’s Soccer Tabbed Comeback Win in Opener against La Roche
Beaver Falls, PA – Women's soccer earned a thrilling comeback win in the Golden Tornadoes' season home opener on Saturday, September 2, 2017. Geneva edged La Roche College 2-1, tabbing a 1-0 season start.
The Redhawks opened scoring five minutes into the match. La Roche's Samantha Chambers converted a cross for the go ahead goal.
Geneva's sophomore forward
Erica Sumner (Beaver Falls, PA/BCCS) responded in the twenty-sixth minute of the first half. She was assisted by junior center midfielder
Hannah Sleight (Shapleigh, ME/Home School), who played a through ball, splitting the defense. Sumner's finish allotted a 1-1 halftime score.
With seven minutes left in the game, Geneva was able to generate a comeback win from their freshman center-midfielder
April Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) and
Erin Houser (Lititz, PA/Warwick). Mann slotted a cross to Houser for the golden goal.
On Tuesday, September 5, the Golden Tornadoes travel to Allegheny College to face the Gators starting at 4:30 p.m.
