Marietta’s Lone Goal Enough to Stump Geneva
Marietta’s Lone Goal Enough to Stump Geneva
Marietta, OH – Wednesday's 1-0 loss at Marietta extends Geneva's losing streak to four. Two weeks ago, Geneva dominated Medaille 7-0. Since then, the Golden Tornadoes have been unable to find the back of the net. The narrow loss moves Geneva's overall record to 2-5 while the Pioneers record moves to 2-3-2.

Geneva's defense kept composure as the hosts outshot Geneva 8-1 in the first 45 minutes of play. Goalkeeper Danielle Lincoln posted three saves as the GTs backline shut down seven shots. A late first half bomb from 30 yards out snuck into the right corner of the posts, leaving Geneva a one goal deficit at the half.

Geneva's offense battled back in the second half leveling the shot count to seven a piece. Despite efforts, Marietta's lone goal was enough to stump the black and gold.

Lincoln finished the game with six saves. Geneva forced Pioneer goalkeeper to earn four.

Geneva returns home to play NAIA's Point Park on Saturday, September 23 at 4:30 p.m. The match marks Geneva last non-conference competition before opening play in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) against Bethany on Friday, September 29 at home starting at 5:00 p.m.
