Geneva Downed in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, Pa. – Volleyball didn't stack their non-conference schedule lightly. The Golden Tornadoes took on the challenging schedule facing Mount Union and Case Western Reserve on Friday at the Carnegie Mellon Double Tree Invitational. Mount Union downed Geneva 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 26-24), while Case Western defeated the Golden Tornadoes 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-11). The losses move Geneva's overall record to 3-10. The Mount Union Purple Raiders moved their record to 15-1. Case Western Reserved lifted its record to 9-5.
Senior outside hitter
Erica Hughes was the lone Golden Tornadoes to tally double digit kills with 10 against the Raiders.
Daphne Hunsinger handled the setting responsibilities earning 19 assists.
Grace Holdeman led Geneva's defense efforts with 15 digs.
Hughes continued her offensive attack in game two, this time with 15 kills. She was supported by Hunsinger with 9 kills,
Lexi Jordan with 7. Hunsinger tallied 24 more assists, earning 43 on the day. Jordan and Holdeman each gathered 10 digs followed by Sydney McNulty with seven.
Day two of the Invitational holds matches on Saturday, September 23 for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva will face Wooster at 1:00 p.m. and Messiah at 5:00 p.m.
