PAC Defending Champs Slash Tennis’ Perfect Record
Beaver Falls, Pa. – The defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions, Westminster College Titans, ended Geneva's perfect record Monday evening. The Titans edged Geneva 6-3 at Blackhawk courts moving the Golden Tornadoes record to 8-1, 2-1 in the PAC. Westminster extended its winning streak to five, remaining undefeated in conference play (6-3, 5-0).
"We fought so hard today," said head coach
Mandee Craft. "It's tough to get our first loss, but we'll bounce back quickly."
Victoria Hinds and
Laura Anderson tallied a third doubles win earning an 8-2 final decision.
In singles action,
Grace Moyer won a long fought battle in third singles; 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-7. "Grace battled through some injuries to pull this one out," said Craft.
Felicity Orndoff showcased an impressive 6-1, 6-0 fifth singles win.
Geneva will continue conference play on Wednesday, September 27 at Thiel starting at 4:00 p.m. The Golden Tornadoes return home on Saturday, September 30 to host Marietta at noon at the Blackhawk courts.
