Men’s Soccer Heads to Conference Play in the Win Column
Meadville, PA – Men's soccer senior defender
Gib McCracken scored the game winner six minutes into the match when he placed a free kick past the keeper. The 1-0 away victory moves Geneva to an overall record of 6-2-1. The Golden Tornadoes are now 2-1 on the road.
"Always fun to win on the road," commented head coach
Gary Dunda. "We were trying some new things in our midfield and it was nice to see it is working out for us."
After 90 minutes of back and forth play, McCracken's goal was the only one to enter the scoreboard for either team. Both teams had plenty of opportunities as Geneva was able to outshoot Allegheny 15-14. Allegheny held advantage on corners with 6-3. In the closing seconds of the game, junior goalkeeper
Luke Nolan made a game ending save to preserve the shut out. Nolan made four saves during the contest.
"Our conference is full of tough competition as always this year," said Dunda. "It is positive to see us moving forward well into our conference play."
Friday begins conference play for the Golden Tornadoes. They will play right after the women's match when the programs host Bethany College. The women will play at 4:30 p.m. and the men game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Merriman Complex.
