Volleyball Showcases Three Set PAC Win at Home; Remains Perfect in the Conference
Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva volleyball showed off at home Thursday night against Saint Vincent. The Golden Tornadoes' three set win (25-12, 26-24, 25-22) is their fifth straight conference win, remaining 5-0 in the league, 6-12 overall. The visiting Bearcats record dropped to 3-4 in the PAC, 11-7 overall.
 
Allyssa Kerr earned five straight services to raise Geneva 21-10 in set one. Millicent Dofelmier put down the last kill for the set one victory. As a team, Geneva tallied 11 kills for the set.
 
The Bearcats responded in the second set forcing the game into extra points. Saint Vincent took the lead at 10-9 and rolled with it. Down 17-12, Geneva's freshman setter Daphne Hunsinger dominated the service line with six serves including an ace. Her work leveled the scoreboard at 17 points apiece. After some heated back and forth action, Sydney McNulty earned the final lead change for Geneva with a service ace. Erica Hughes sealed the win with a kill assisted by Hunsinger.
 
Geneva pulled away in set three at 20-14 with the help from Hughes' back-to-back kills. McNulty tallied the final point for the three set match PAC victory.
 
Hughes led the offense with 16 kills, posting an impressive .341 attack percentage. She was supported by McNulty with nine kills. Hunsinger set for 31 assists. McNulty electrified the crowd with four service aces, committing no service errors. As a team, the Golden Tornadoes tallied 13 service aces. On defense, Grace Holdeman gathered 15 digs while McNulty tabbed 13. Geneva defended the net with three block solos, eight assisted blocks for a total of 11 team blocks. Dofelmier led the efforts with two solos and assists. Kacey Costal joined the fun with three block assists.
 
With momentum on their side, the Golden Tornadoes host Bethany and Thomas More on Saturday, September 30 in a PAC tri-match. Geneva will start the day off facing the Bison at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. match against the Saints. The visitors will compete in a neutral site competition at 1:00 p.m.
