Beaver Falls, PA – The talent of Geneva's senior class shone on the tennis courts during the non-conference match versus the visiting Marietta College Pioneers. The Golden Tornadoes finished with an 8-1 victory, bringing their record to 10-1 overall, 4-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). The Pioneers' record dropped to 1-3 overall.
Senior doubles partners
Sara Stoll and
Laura Anderson earned an 8-1 victory in second doubles following the 8-1 victory of
Rachael Letterman and
Grace Moyer in first doubles. Third doubles won by forfeit.
In singles play, Letterman led the way with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in first singles followed quickly by Stoll,
Victoria Hinds, and Anderson with 6-0, 6-0 triumphs. Senior
Alisha Zanath's hard fought battle in fifth singles was not enough to pull a win, falling 1-6, 3-6. Sixth singles was won by forfeit.
"It was fun to honor our seniors today for all of the work they've put in for four years," commented Head Coach
Mandee Craft. "They will be missed!"
Geneva returns to PAC play on Thursday, October 5 as they travel to Grove City College for the 3:30 p.m. start. Saturday, October 7 will see Geneva back at the Blackhawk courts to face the visiting Thomas More Saints, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
