Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hot-Shooting Allegheny Dominates Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – This was a game Geneva will want to move on from as quickly as possible.  Geneva hosted Allegheny on Tuesday night, and the Gators will have much to be thankful for over the Thanksgiving holiday, as Allegheny made 20 3-pointers on its way to a dominating 97-52 win over the Golden Tornadoes.  Allegheny improved to 3-0, while Geneva fell to 2-2.

The tidal wave started early for Allegheny as the Gators made three straight 3-pointers to start the game before Geneva was able to get on the scoreboard.  It was only the beginning.  Allegheny made eight of its first ten 3-pointers on its way to a 44-25 halftime lead.  As hot as Allegheny was, Geneva was just as cold.  The Golden Tornadoes shot just 8-of-32 in the half, including 2-of-11 from 3-point range, with nine turnovers.

If there was any hope that the halftime break would cool Allegheny off, those thoughts were quickly eliminated as the Gators made their first three 3-pointers in the half to go up 57-31.  Geneva's offensive struggles continued as well in the second half, as the Golden Tornadoes could never get on track, enabling Allegheny to coast to the huge 97-52 victory.

Geneva was led by junior Ethan Moose (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) who was the only Golden Tornado in double figures with 11 points.  Geneva shot just 33% from the floor and turned the ball over 24 times.  Allegheny finished 20-35 from 3-point range and was led by Billy Urso who scored 21 points on seven 3-pointers.  All told, seven different Gators made a 3-pointer.

The Golden Tornadoes have the rest of the Thanksgiving week off before it heads out onto the road for a game at Franciscan University on Monday, November 26, at 7:00 p.m.
