Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Tennis Drops First Match of Season

LATROBE, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team traveled to Saint Vincent on Monday afternoon as it opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play, and the Golden Tornadoes dropped their first match of the season, 6-3.  Geneva's record fell to 9-1 overall, 0-1 in the PAC, while Saint Vincent improved to 2-6 overall, 1-0 in the PAC.

Geneva fared well in doubles.  Junior Eric Abbott and senior Ethan Stahl won 8-4 in #2 doubles.  Freshman Drake Greenstein and sophomore Alex Greissinger won in #3 doubles, 8-4.  In #1 doubles, freshmen Alex Beck and Nate Heidengren lost a tight match, 9-8.

Saint Vincent took control of the match in singles play, as only Stahl in #5 singles managed a win, 6-3 and 6-1.  Abbott lost a tough three set match in #4 singles, 6-4, 5-7 and 8-10.

"We had some bright spots for sure, despite the score," Head Coach Mandee Craft said.  "All three doubles teams played awesome.  Saint Vincent really stepped it up in singles, so all credit goes to them."

Geneva now looks ahead to its first home PAC match of the season when it welcomes Westminster on Thursday, March 22, for a 12:00 p.m. start.
