Geneva Knocks Off Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Geneva College men's tennis team came up with a road win over Bethany on Tuesday afternoon, its second straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory, knocking off the Bison, 7-2.  Geneva's record improved to 11-1 overall, 2-1 in the PAC, while Bethany remained winless on the season at 0-6, 0-2 in the PAC.

Geneva once again fared well in doubles, winning two of the three matches.  Senior Ethan Stahl and junior Eric Abbott won in #2 doubles, 8-2, and sophomore Alex Greissinger and freshman Drake Greenstein won easily in #3 doubles, 8-0.

Freshman Alex Beck got Geneva off to a good start in #1 singles by winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.  Greenstein picked up a win in #3 singles 7-5, 6-2.  Abbott and Stahl then dominated their opponents in #4 and #5 singles, both winning 6-0, 6-1.  Senior Jesse Hooke finished up the singles matches by winning a three set tiebreaker in #6 singles 6-2, 6-7, 10-4.

"This was a solid win for us to get to 2-1 in conference play," Head Coach Mandee Craft said.  "The PAC is getting better all the time, so every win is big."

Geneva will have a week off before it hosts Thiel College for a match on Saturday, April 7, starting at 7:00 p.m.
