CRESTVIEW HILLS Ky. – The Geneva College men's tennis team made the long trip down to Thomas More on Saturday afternoon for a match against the Saints, and the Golden Tornadoes battled the more highly rated Thomas More before falling, 8-1. Geneva fell to 12-4, 3-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while Thomas More improved to 12-3, 7-1 in the PAC.
Geneva's only win of the match came in #2 doubles where senior Ethan Stahl and junior Eric Abbott won their match. Freshman Alex Beck and Nate Heidengren lost a tiebreaker in #1 doubles, and then both freshmen lost hard fought battles in their singles matches.
"We fought hard today," Head Coach Mandee Craft said. "We lost some tough tiebreakers, but we again showed we're right there with the top teams in the PAC."
Geneva closes out the regular season on Monday at Waynesburg for a 4:00 p.m. match. Then the Golden Tornadoes will look forward to participating in the PAC championships on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, in Erie, Pennsylvania.
