WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Geneva College women's tennis teams knew it had a difficult challenge ahead of it when it traveled to Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup, and W&J proved better in every way on this night, sweeping the Golden Tornadoes, 9-0. W&J improved to 4-5 overall, 3-1 in the PAC, while Geneva fell to 4-4, 2-3 in the PAC.
W&J won all three doubles matches to start things off, with senior
Jana Newberry (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and sophomore
Mady Paquet (Ellsworth, Wisc./Ellsworth) losing a tight match in #3 doubles, 8-6.
Sophomore
Kaylee McCall (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) was the only Golden Tornado to win a set in the singles matches, as she took the first set against her opponent in #6 singles before eventually falling 6-3, 5-7, 5-10.
"We had a few chances today that we didn't capitalize on," said Head Coach
