Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis Opens Second Semester With a Win

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team opened its second semester with a win on Saturday at Brady's Run Indoor Courts, sweeping Muskingum 9-0.  Geneva's record is now 2-2, while Muskingum fell to 0-6.

Muskingum arrived in Beaver Falls under-manned, having only five players to fill the needed six spots.  That meant Geneva started with an immediate 2-0 advantage, as Muskingum had to forfeit the #6 singles and #3 doubles matches.

The forfeits didn't make any difference in the match, though, as the Golden Tornadoes swept through all the other matches.  Muskingum wasn't able to win a set in any of the matches, allowing Geneva to come up with the win, getting the Golden Tornadoes off to a good start to the upcoming season.

"This was a great way to kick off the spring season," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "Our guys played hard and did what we needed to do today."

Geneva will be on the road next Saturday for a doubleheader.  The Golden Tornadoes will play at Mount Aloysius College at 11:00 a.m. and then travel to Penn State Altoona for a match starting at 4:00 p.m.
