Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis Swept by Grove City

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team knew it was going to be in for a tough match on Wednesday night when Grove City came to town.  The Wolverines came in with an undefeated record in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), and it stayed that way as Grove City left town with a 9-0 victory.  Grove City improved to 8-6, 5-0 in the PAC, while Geneva fell to 6-7, 2-4 in the PAC.

Not much went well for Geneva in the match.  Sophomore Drake Greenstein (Austin, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) and junior Alex Greissinger (Erie, Pa./Northwest PA Collegiate Academy) had the closet match in doubles completion, losing 8-6 in #2 doubles.  In singles action, freshman Josiah Shaver (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) came the closest with a 6-3, 7-5 loss in the #4 singles, with Geneva unable to pick up a set in the match.

"Grove City showed why they are at the top of the PAC," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.  "We fought hard today, but they were just too solid overall."

Geneva finishes PAC play tomorrow with a home match against Waynesburg starting at 6:00 p.m.
