WASHINGTON, Pa. – It's been a tough couple of weeks for the Geneva College men's tennis team, and Wednesday night found Geneva up against another strong opponent in Washington & Jefferson, with the Presidents defeating the Golden Tornadoes, 8-1. W&J improved to 7-2, 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while Geneva fell to 5-6, 1-3 in the PAC.
For the third straight match, Geneva failed to come up with a point in doubles competition, putting the Golden Tornadoes in an early hole. Only freshman
Josiah Shaver (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) was able to come up with a victory, picking up a win in #5 singles in a three-set match 7-6, 2-6, 10-7. Sophomore
Eli Grove (Evans City, Pa./Portersville Christian) had a tough three-set loss in #6 singles, losing the third set tiebreaker 10-8.
Geneva heads to Thiel on Saturday looking to break its three-match losing streak. The start time is at 4:00 p.m.
