STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Friday afternoon was a day to forget for the Geneva College baseball team. The Golden Tornadoes traveled to Franciscan and dropped a doubleheader by scores of 19-1 and 10-0. Franciscan improved to 13-14 overall, 12-11 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while Geneva dropped to 10-19, 6-17 in the PAC.
In the first game, Franciscan scored single runs in the first and second innings off freshman starter
Joshua Kearns (Akron, Ohio/Woodridge), and then the Barons broke the game open, and knocked Kearns out in the process, by scoring 10 runs in the third inning. Franciscan would go on to score in every inning, scoring once in the fourth, five in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Geneva managed just three hits in the game.
The second game didn't go much better. Franciscan scored three runs in the first, two more in the second, and five in the third against sophomore starter
Timothy Munz (Euclid, Ohio/Lake Catholic). Those proved to be the last runs of the game as Geneva's offense managed just three hits in game two as well.
Geneva will complete the four-game series with Franciscan with a home doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
