Geneva Athletics Returns to Full NCCAA Membership

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College Athletics Department is excited to announced that it will be returning to full membership with the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) for the upcoming 2021-22 school year after operating this past season as an associate member of the organization.

Geneva has a long history with the NCCAA, including as a charter member of the organization almost 50 years ago.  Geneva decided to drop to an associate member this past season because of travel and health concerns due to COVID-19.  Associate members of the NCCAA are allowed to receive certain academic postseason awards, but they are not eligible to participate in postseason tournaments with the NCCAA.

As a full member of the NCCAA this upcoming season, Geneva teams will again have greater options for postseason opportunities, and its student-athletes will be provided additional recognition for in-season and post-season honors and awards.  The membership with the NCCAA will not impact Geneva's involvement with the Presidents' Athletic Conference or with the NCAA Division III, and Geneva teams will still have opportunities for postseason tournaments through those organizations as well.

"The NCCAA is a special organization that puts the emphasis on regional and national championship opportunities for our student-athletes in an environment that puts Christ in the center of everything they do," says Director of Athletics Van Zanic.  "Geneva College has been a part of the NCCAA framework for nearly 50 years and we could not be more excited to return as a full member after having to take a year away from competition because of travel restrictions.  Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from having the opportunity to compete against other Christ-centered institutions in what has become an ultra-competitive environment."

Geneva has enjoyed great success within the NCCAA over the years, including national championships in men's basketball and men's soccer, while also achieving numerous individual awards with All-Region and All-American selections.
