Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Earns 1-1 draw at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Geneva College women's soccer team earned a result on Saturday afternoon at W&J, coming away with a 1-1 draw with the Presidents.  The Golden Tornadoes are now 3-9-3, 1-5-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while W&J is 4-3-6, 2-2-3 in the PAC.

Sophomore Saige Musser (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) got Geneva on the board in the 21st minute.  Sophomore Julia Robertson (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) got to a ball just before it crossed the endline and she sent a cross over to Musser in the middle of the box.  Musser hit a one-time shot from ten yards away that beat the keeper to the near post, and that goal held up for the remainder half despite W&J having more possession shots.

W&J pulled level quickly in the second half, though, just over three minutes after the halftime break when Audrey Chapman made a run into the box and put one into the net.

Neither team could find a game-winner over the final 40 minutes and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

W&J held a 22-11 edge in shot, though most of that advantage came in the first half.  The Presidents also held a 10-7 edge in shots on goal and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Sophomore goalkeeper Jade Farnsworth (New Brighton, Pa./Riverside) made nine saves for the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva returns home to take on first-place Franciscan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.
