WAYNESBURG, Pa. --- The Geneva men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over Waynesburg on Wednesday afternoon to close out the Fall portion of the 2022-23 season.
"We've had some tough matches against Waynesburg the past couple of years, so this was a great win for us," said Geneva head coach
Mandee Craft. "We also got to see a lot of our guys in action again today, which has been a benefit of our Fall matches."
The Golden Tornadoes start the match with three wins in doubles competition. The No. 1 doubles team of
Jacques Guillembet and
Jadon Hooke secured the sweep with an 8-7 (3) victory.
David Clark and
Nick Heidengren won at No. 2 doubles, 8-0, while
Daniel Ray and
Jalen Landis won at No. 3, 8-3.
Hooke earned his second win of the day at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3, to keep the winning on track in singles. Ray also picked up a second victory at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Gavin Landis,
Owen Landis, and
Jacob Zangas also won their flights at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles, respectively.
Geneva will return to action in Spring 2023.
