YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --- The Geneva men's indoor track & field team opened the 2022-23 season at the Youngstown State Icebreaker meet on Friday at the Watson and Tressel Training Site. The YSU Icebreaker is a major opening meet featuring over 40 collegiate teams from around the region.

"This was a great first meet for us as we head into the finals and holiday break," said head coach Phil Thompson. "We had a lot of good performances. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are heading in the right direction." 

Geneva picked up a couple of top 20 finishes on the day. Eli Eisenberger finished 13th overall in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:20.35. Noah Foust placed 19th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 13.69 meters, while also finishing 21st in the shot put with a throw of 12.46 meters. 

Following the finals and holiday breaks, Geneva will return to action on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Muskingum. The Golden Tornadoes will compete two more times in the 2022-23 season – January 21, 2023 and January 27-28, 2023.
