GREENVILLE, Pa. – It was a successful weekend for the Geneva College men's and women's track and field teams, and on Monday three Golden Tornadoes received weekly awards.
Senior Dom Data (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) was named both the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Data ran at Bucknell University on Saturday at the Bison Outdoor Classic, and he won the 200-meter race in a school record time of 21.44 seconds. He defeated multiple NCAA Division I and Division II runners in the race. That time is the 10th fastest time this season in NCAA Division III, and the 2nd fastest time in the NCCAA. This is the eighth time this year during the indoor and outdoor season that Data has been honored by the PAC, and it's the second time he's been honored by the NCCAA.
Senior Olivia Younger (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) was named the PAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Thiel Tomcat Invitational on Saturday. She won the 100-meter hurdles race in a time of 15.94 seconds, and she already owns the fastest time in the PAC in this event this season. She also won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.15. That time is the fastest time in the PAC this season. Younger also ran on the 4x100-meter relay team that finished second in a time of 52.25 seconds. This is the second time Younger has received a weekly award from the PAC this season.
Freshman Kevin Arseneaux (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) was named the PAC Men's Track and Field Rookie of the Week for his performance on Friday and Saturday at the Bison Outdoor Classic. On Friday he broke the four-minute mark in the 1500-meter race, finishing in a personal-best time of 3:59.36, the second fastest time in the PAC this season. On Saturday, Arseneaux ran in the 800-meter race and finished in a personal-best time of 1:55.56, also the second-fastest time in the PAC this season. This is the fifth time this season Arseneaux has been honored by the PAC.
The Geneva men's and women's track and field teams are now gearing up for the PAC Outdoor Championships, held at West Virginia University on Thursday, April 28, and Friday, April 29.
