CHIPPEWA, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team made quick work of a short-handed Thiel squad at Blackhawk Courts on Wednesday evening, sweeping a Tomcat squad 9-0 which had only four players available. The win is the first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory of the season for the Golden Tornadoes, moving Geneva's record to 4-7 overall, 1-4 in the PAC.
Graduate student Nate Heidengren (Aliquippa, Pa./Beaver County Christian) and junior Jacques Guillembet (Ft. Myers, Fla./South Ft. Myers) won 8-2 in #1 doubles. Senior Kameron Donaldson (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey) and sophomore Jadon Hooke (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) won 8-1 in #2 doubles, with Geneva earning a third point in #3 doubles by forfeit.
Geneva received two more points by forfeit in #5 and #6 singles. Heidengren won in #1 singles, Guillembet in #2 singles and senior Josiah Shaver (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) in #3 singles by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Senior Amos Luptak (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) added a win in #4 singles 6-1, 6-0.
The Golden Tornadoes continue their busy week with a match on Friday at Waynesburg beginning at 3:30 p.m. Geneva then wraps up its regular season with a home match against W&J on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on Blackhawk Courts.
