Men’s Tennis Starts 2022-23 Season Against Capital

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team got the 2022-23 season started on Saturday morning at the Blackhawk Courts with a 9-0 loss to Capital. It was the first of three matches the Golden Tornadoes are scheduled to play this Fall.

"Capital is a tough team, and we'll be better for playing them," said Geneva men's head coach Mandee Craft. "We were able to find some things we need to work on before September 30."

Geneva has six returning players from last season's Presidents' Athletics Conference quarterfinalist team. Senior Jacques Guillembet brings his First Team All-PAC doubles credentials to the table this season, playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Golden Tornadoes. Junior Jadon Hooke is partnered with Guillembet at No. 1 doubles this Fall and is sitting in the No. 2 singles spot.

Senior Jalen Landis and sophomore David Clark were paired up at No. 2 doubles and played No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. If the Landis name starts to sound repetitive this season, it is because Jalen is joined on the squad by brothers Gavin and Owen. Junior Gavin Landis played at No. 5 singles and freshman Owen Landis played at No. 6 against Capital.

Geneva will host Marietta on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Blackhawk Tennis Courts in its next scheduled competition.
