Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls to Marietta

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to Marietta on Friday night on Blackhawk Courts in the second of three fall matches for the Golden Tornadoes.  Geneva's record is now 0-2.

Geneva got an early advantage when Marietta only have five players available, meaning the Golden Tornadoes received a win in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.  However, Marietta swept the two other doubles matches to even the match at 2-2 heading into the five remaining singles matches.

Senior Jacques Guillembet (Ft. Myers, Fla./South Ft. Myers) earned a win for Geneva in No. 1 singles by the score of 6-4, 7-5, while junior Gavin Landis (Quarryville, Pa./Rift Valley Academy) swept his opponent in No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0.  However, Geneva dropped the middle three singles matches and fell 5-4.

The men wrap up their fall season with a match at Waynesburg on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
