BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's soccer team (1-1) picked up a big 6-3 victory over Houghton on Saturday night to close out the Nate Ferraco Classic at the Merriman Athletic Complex.
Junior forward
Carnel Kerr score the first of his team-high two goals in the game to put Geneva on the scoreboard first at the 13:59 mark. Kerr placed the ball in the back of the net off a long pass from junior midfielder
Justin Finnegan. Houghton evened the score at 1-1 at 24:32 into the game.
Freshman midfielder
Wil Dunda put the Golden Tornadoes up 2-1 with a penalty kick at 39:56 to give Geneva the lead going into the intermission.
The teams battled to start the second half before freshman midfielder
Jeremy Thompson poked the ball in the top of the net off the cross bar on an assist from
Noah Dworakowski to give Geneva a 3-1 lead.
Houghton responded with two quick goals in the next 10 minutes of action to even the score, 3-3.
Sophomore midfielder
Darren Main put the Golden Tornadoes back in the lead on the next possession on an unassisted goal, 4-3.
Geneva kept the lead with two more goals in the last 10 minutes of the game. Freshman midfield

Mike Rogers on a double assist from
Dominic Sambuco and Dunda. Kerr picked up his second goal of the game at the 84:00 mark for the final score of 6-3.
The Golden Tornadoes return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. against LaRoche at Reeves Field in Beaver Falls.
