BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team finished up its brief fall season on Tuesday night with a home victory over Pitt-Greensburg, 8-1, on Blackhawk Courts. The men won all three of their fall matches.
Greensburg arrived with only five players, so the Bobcats automatically dropped #3 doubles and #6 singles. The two squads split the top two doubles flights, with senior Jadon Hooke and sophomore Daniel Ray pulling out a tiebreaker in #1 doubles, 8-7(7-1).
Hooke won his match in the top flight in singles 6-0, 6-3. Landis pulled out the most dramatic win of the night for the men in #2 singles, dropping the first set 3-6 before rallying to win the second set, 7-6(9-7) and then winning the tiebreaker, 11-9. Ray earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory in #3 singles, while senior Nick Heidengren won 6-0, 6-1 in #4 singles. Junior David Clark wrapped up singles play with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the fifth flight.
"This was a bigger test for us than our first two matches, so it's good to get this win heading into the offseason," said Head Coach Mandee Craft.
The majority of the men's season will take place in the spring, with most matches taking place in March and April.
