BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team wrapped up its fall semester on Friday afternoon with a match against Brevard (NC), losing 6-1 despite a strong effort from junior Braiden Smalley.
Smalley teamed with freshman Ben Busler to win No. 1 doubles 7-5, but that was the only doubles match the Golden Tornadoes could win, with Brevard taking the final two doubles flights to earn the doubles point.
Smalley also won his match in No. 1 singles 6-4, 7-5. Unfortunately, that was the only point the Golden Tornadoes could secure against a Brevard squad that had played three prior matches this week against area schools W&J, McDaniel and Penn State Altoona and had only lost two points combined.
"We were definitely able to get some solid matches in this fall," said Head Coach Mandee Craft. "We now have a better idea of lineups and improvements to make in the offseason."
The bulk of the men's season will happen in the spring season, beginning in March.
