Men’s Tennis Picks up Win at Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win at Mount Aloysius on Thursday afternoon.  The win was the first of the season for the Golden Tornadoes, who play most of their season during the spring season.

Things started well for the men in doubles play.  Junior Braiden Smalley and senior David Clark won in No. 1 doubles 6-2.  Junior Owen Landis and freshman Ben Busler took No. 2 doubles 7-5, while sophomore Thayne Bodenmiller and freshman Simon Burkett won in No. 3 doubles 6-3.  That earned the men the doubles point.

Smalley easily defeated his opponent in No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2.  Clark won his match in No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-3.  Landis won in No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-2.  Bodenmiller took his match in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-2, while sophomore Ethan Mullen earned a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles.

The men play twice more before wrapping up play in the fall.  Geneva heads to Penn State Altoona for a match next Tuesday before finishing the semester with a home match against Brevard on Friday, October 18.
