Coletti and Cozzens Named PAC Basketball Newcomers of the Week

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Freshmen Tommy Coletti and Alexandra Cozzens swept the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Basketball Newcomers of the Week on Monday.  Coletti as honored as the PAC Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week, while Cozzens earned her second PAC Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week honor in the last three weeks.

Coletti has taken a more prominent role for the men's basketball early in the season as the men have seen multiple key returners go down with significant injuries.  He opened the week with ten points on Tuesday night in Geneva's first conference win of the season against Thiel.  Coletti came off the bench and hit 4-of-8 shots from the floor, including 2-of-5 from three-point range, while pulling down four rebounds.  On Saturday at Pitt-Greensburg, Coletti made his first start of the year and delivered a career-high 13 points, making 5-of-10 shots from the floor, 3-of-7 from three-point range, while adding three rebounds and three assists.

Coletti's big week increased his season scoring average to 8.2 points per game, including a team-best 8-of-16 effort from three-point range.

The Geneva women's basketball team played just once last week, and Cozzens played a big part in Geneva's 81-69 victory over Thiel on Tuesday night.  She set a career high with 14 points against the Tomcats, shooting 7-of-12 (58.3%) from the floor while grabbing four rebounds and blocking two shots.  Cozzens is now averaging 9.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in helping the women to a 5-2 record, their best start to a season since 2007.

The Geneva women's and men's basketball teams will play PAC doubleheaders on the road this week.  The Golden Tornadoes play at Allegheny on Wednesday and at Saint Vincent on Saturday.
