PEPPER PIKE, Oh. – Geneva's women's tennis team rebounded well from a loss earlier this week with a definitive 6-1 win against the Ursuline Arrows on Friday. The Golden Tornadoes took all three doubles matches and the first five singles bouts before dropping the No. 6 singles match in the final contest of the day. With the win, Geneva moves to 4-2 on the season, 0-2 in conference play.
Freshman
Chloe DeSanzo and junior
Lauren Estes took their No. 1 doubles match, 6-1, to start things off for the GTs. Senior
Delaney Winterhalter and junior
Jenna Allison followed them up with a 6-2 victory in the second doubles flight, and junior
CeJaelyn Perednia and sophomore
Caroline Reed completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory in the No. 3 spot.
The women carried their momentum into singles play, with DeSanzo taking a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory in the top flight to stay undefeated on the season. Estes won her match 6-1, 6-0, and Winterhalter had another dominant performance in No. 3 singles with a straight set victory. Allison got the victory in the No. 4 spot, and Perednia rounded out the scoring for the GTs in the No. 5 singles match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Head coach
Mandee Craft was quite happy with her team's performance. "We played well today," she said. "It was good to get back in the win column after a couple of tough matches recently."
The Golden Tornadoes have the rest of the weekend off before travelling to Allegheny on Monday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match with the Gators.
