Football Hires Jason Wargo as Offensive Coordinator

BEAVER FALLS, Pa.  – The Geneva College football team has hired a familiar face to take over its open offensive coordinator position, selecting Jason Wargo to take over the role.  Wargo is a former player and coach at Geneva, making him well acquainted with the program.

Wargo graduated from Geneva in 1995 after a strong playing career for the Golden Tornadoes as a starter along the offensive line, helping pave the way for Geneva Hall of Fame running back Willie Murray.  He was also a standout thrower on the track and field team during his time as student at Geneva.

"I am very excited about this opportunity to give back to a place that has given me so much in my life," says Wargo.  "If it was not for Geneva, I would never have met my wife who is an incredible woman of faith.  We are excited to be back and blessed beyond words.  Geneva is a special place, and I can't wait to get started."

Wargo returned to Geneva in 2000 as an assistant coach in the football program, and he served two stints as a coach in the program over the next 15 years, overseeing the offensive line and the tight end position.  He also served as the associate head coach for the track and field team during one of his stints, along with a physical fitness instructor.

After leaving Geneva in 2014, Wargo spent six years coaching in the Franklin Area High School football program, serving as both offensive and defensive coordinator, as well as the special teams coordinator at different times.  He was also the Head Track and Field Coach for three years at Franklin.  Most recently, Wargo was the Head Football Coach at Maplewood High School for the past three seasons, guiding the school to two playoff berths.

"We are happy to have Jason return to College Hill," says Head Coach Geno DeMarco.  "He truly embodies everything about our 'Us is Always Us' mentality.  He has been a player and a coach during our more successful years and integrates his relationship with Christ in his ability to coach football."

Wargo and his wife Rachel, who is also a Geneva graduate, have two daughters, Maylee (10) and Maryanne (5).
