Romano Earns Player of the Week Recognition

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Following another high-scoring game for the Geneva football team, junior quarterback Caleb Romano was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week. He led the Golden Tornadoes to a 51-38 victory on the road versus Thiel on Saturday afternoon, the second 50-point outing the GTs have put up this season. It is the second time this year that Romano has won the award.

Romano was active both through the air and on the ground for Geneva on Saturday, dicing up the Thiel defense for 402 passing yards and three passing touchdowns on a 62.7 completion percentage (32-for-51 on pass attempts). He added a team-high 46 yards on the ground and two more rushing scores, including a 33-yard scamper at the beginning of the fourth quarter to put the GTs up by 18 points.

Saturday's game was just the latest installment in what has been an impressive season all-around for the junior quarterback. Romano currently leads all of NCAA Division III with 2,093 passing yards and is tied for second in the nation with 19 passing touchdowns. He is currently on pace to break the school record for most passing yards in a season, and his success throwing the football has led to a revitalization of the Golden Tornadoes offense this year.

Geneva is on the road again this upcoming weekend, heading to Waynesburg for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, October 18th. A win versus the Yellow Jackets would make Geneva 4-1 in PAC play, which would be the GTs' best start to the conference schedule since they joined the PAC in 2011.
