Men’s Tennis Captures PAC Victory at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Geneva College men's tennis team broke through in conference play on Saturday at Thiel with a 6-1 victory over the Tomcats, Geneva's first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory of the season.

Geneva took control of the match in doubles play.  Junior Braiden Smalley and freshman Ben Busler won 6-2 in No. 1 doubles.  Sophomore Thayne Bodenmiller and freshman Jacob Bout won 6-1 in No. 2 doubles, and junior Luke Poteete and freshman Simon Burkett won 6-2 in No. 3 doubles, earning Geneva the doubles point.

Smalley swept his opponent in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0.  Senior David Clark won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 3 singles, and Bodenmiller swept his opponent in No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0.  Sophomore Ethan Mullen won 6-2, 6-0 in No. 5 singles, and Burkett swept his opponent in No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0.

"We played well today all the way down the lineup," said Head Coach Mandee Craft, "and it feels good to pick up a solid win."

This coming week is the last week of the season for the squad.  The men will play at Franciscan on Monday at 6:00 p.m. and then close out the year with a home match against Waynesburg on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
